The never starting summer

Every spring people in North Norway are waiting for summer, and truly believe that this year, THIS year, the summer will be warmer and nicer than ever before. We wait for the sun to start warming up, the midnight sun to light up our nights, the snow to leave the mountains, the green leaves, we buy shorts and t-shirts that we can't  wait to wear and those lazy days on the balcony where we can sunbath. Every August people get desperate and fleed to South Europe, because summer never came above the polar circle. We are, however, optimistic people, we have to be when living on the top of the world. At one point, however, the leaves start getting yellow and red, and we start to believe in a white winter. A bad summer must result in a good winter.

Finish people visiting

July, 2012

This year was no different. Suddenly we had September and I caught myself still waiting for summer. Summer never came this year, but it wasn't surprising. After a month of travelling in the US. I had had summer, and was pleased. This summer was all about seeing friends and family again, and to figure out what to do with my life.

As I left the states, I had no clue about what to do next. The thought of staying home, in Narvik for one year, just working, scared the crap out of me. Every time I've been home, I've always known that I was leaving soon again. Don't get me wrong, I love being home, but for now, a holiday is more than enough.

Brage, 2 years old.

I went to Denmark for a holiday in August to see some friends I met in San Francisco. The first week was spent in Aarhus, the second week in Copenhagen and then I went back to Norway and Bergen to meet some friends I met in Australia. "The reunion round-trip"

Aarhus:
Jaana (Finland), me, Anna (Sweden), Hannah (Great Britain) and Anca (Romania)

Aarhus museum

Legoland

Copenhagen:

Hannah, Christian (dk), Anna, Tarik (dk), me and Jaana

Carlsberg factory, bottle collection.

Stine, me and Maria at Louisiana Museum.

Bergen:

Sara, Anna, the troll and myself

Iben, Sara and Linn

Silje, Anna, Iben and Sara

Before I left Copenhagen I decided that it would be awesome to live there, so I decided to move there. I came home and started on the paperwork and practical stuff straight away. Two months later I moved. I got an apartment, I am applying for jobs, I'm starting school on Monday, and so far it looks like everything is working out for the better. This city is still great, and I really hope I can live here for a long time. Maybe I'm done moving around..?

For now,
Ida
