After a long (3 days) and hard week of WAY TOO MUCH studying it's a long weekend again. Plans for the weekend: Camping!

Did I mention the Zumba?! It is the best, funniest and most effective exercise I've ever done. We were jumping around, shaking our asses and dancing for 45 mins which went way too fast. I just wanted to continue. But there's always a next time, and I'm definietly gonna continue doing it. Check out their homepage here.

I have to get back to my assignments. On top of everything we have to do at the moment, the health faculty decided that we need to lear how to work in teams. OK, it is useful, but....So we have to have meeting to learn how to interact with people and then plan a charity event and do it. AND write assignments for it! Oh, well...compulsory volunteer work...

Paavirket av media

Jeg tror aldri jeg har blitt saa paavirket av media som jeg er naa, men det er jo bare til det beste da. Etter utallige reklamer med ZUMBA skal jeg endelig teste det ut ikveld. Gleder meg kjempe masse. Zumba er en slags latinsk aerobic der man danser til latinske rytmer. Kan trening bli bedre? Vi faar se etter ikveld.

Scavenger Hunt through Brissie


Grazy weekend! We did things I never thought I would ever do in public, but had so much fun though. We started up dressing up in bright yellow singlets as post-it notes. We got a fair few wierd look around. Some of the other groups dressed up as Avatar (they were actually painted blue), babies (yes, all they wore were nappies), goon (vinbokser), clowns an so on. We were the brightest!

All together we had 7 hours finishing the race, and we left the last post 7 hours later. Inbetween we were lieing half naked on the streets, recorded a fantastic song about gay asians and noodles (we had just been through china town for inspiration), taken a group photo with 16 asians, I kissed a random and hunted down an old lady to have a coffee with, we sang and danced in the middle of Queen st for $5, and got kicked out for begging, beer bong (say no more). All this after 4 hours of sleep! I was dead that night.

After a few hours sleep at home, I left for clv again. Sunday session! We were supposed to go to the fox, but people who were there said it was a massive line, so we decided to predrink at Lee's and then go to RE. Well, it was packed there as well. Felt like a sardine in a box.
It's been a very busy weekend and now I have way too many assignments to finish. Love how I always leave them to the very end.

Helgetur bort!

Men skal ikke lengre enn til nord siden av byen. Siden jeg bor borti gokk, er det like greit og pakke baggen og tilbringe litt tid borte. I dag er det bursdag, i morgen er det rebuslop og afterpart, sondag hjem og slappe av/gjore en oppgave og til The Fox paa kvelden. Mandag er det anzac day som betyr fri fra skolen. Naa gaar bussen om 15 min og jeg ser slik ut.


Det er derfor paa tide og gjore seg klar...

Blackberry love

I finally got my phone back yesterday. Since I was going to Indooroopilly I thought I might as well bring everything and just go and ask for my phone..you know, just in case, since it's taken forever. And guess what, my phone was in the shop AND had been there for TWO weeks. "Oh, didn't you get a phone call?" No, no one called me! I dislike that lady with passion. Last time I was there to complain about my phone, she just took her phone up and started giggeling. Some service!Ok, it's not her, but...

Well, now I'm just happy to have my phone back. And I can take photos again. SO took some of my new cloths:

I've been shopping, and this time things for me and not for the room/apartment. Bought the perfect pair of Lee Jeans, a pair of jeans shorts and a dotty top. Once again: Can't take photos because the USB thing is still in Norway. When the airplanes are back in the air I'll hopefully get my percel, right mamma?
Me and Lee basically spent the whole day at Indooroopilly with sushi and shopping. I also cut her fringe. It turned out great! And I still remember the technique tehe.

The rest of he night will be spent studying. I have way too much to catch up on. Reading about vitamins at the moment, so don't be surprised if there'll be a post about vitamins soon.

Brought back to life...

I've finally woken up from my flu-coma. I can see without fog on my eyes, I can talk without two elephants up my nose and I can smell the clear air after the crazy rain today. I am alive again!

I started today by waking up at 5 am after 4 hours of sleep. Note to self: stop drinking coffee! I had a prac at 8 where we tested muscle strenth. Our group needed a volunteer for a leg press exercise and since no one volunteered I did. Stupid me! I'm gonna have sore muscles for a month now. It was fun though. My peak power output was 5.74 W/kg. And my 3RM/body weight. Im not sure yet what it means (have to read first). We also did 1RM bench press and I lifted 40 kilograms!!! Just remember I haven't done weight training since I played (european) handball. So to start with I was scared just lifting the bar. Anyway, my 1RM/body weight was 0.73 which is rated EXCELLENT!

I've also finished my two mid semester exams. The one I had yesterday for exercise physiology was harder than I expected. The only today was just silly. It was a 60 min exam. I finished pretty fast, finished my water bottle, got angry - couse then I had to pee, studied the roof in details, went over the exam, waited, waited and waited and then the lecturer pronounced :"30 minutes left". What!?! It was the longest 30 minutes in my life....

Karbohydrater


Karbohydrater burde bestå av 45-65 % av kostholdets energiinntak. Disse karbohydratene burde komme fra mat med lav energy tetthet og/eller mat med lav glykemisk indeks.

Glykemisk Indeks GI

Dette er en måte å klassifisere karbohydrater etter hvordan effekt de har på blodsukkeret målt to timer etter måltid. Mat som får blodsukkeret til å stige raskt (og dermed synke fort) har en høy GI, mens mat som stiger gjevnt har en lav GI. Lav GI mat fodøyed fort, mens høy GI mat fordøyes langsomt. Derfor er mat med en lav GI det du burde fokusere på og inkludere i kostholdet. GI er regnet ut på en skala fra 1-100 og antyder hvor mye 50 gram karbohydratet i enkelte matproduk får blodsukkeret til å stige. Mat med bare proteiner og fett har veldig liten påvirkning på blodsukker.

Indrettsutdøvere burde spise mat med høy GI etter trening eller ’performance’ for å øke blodsukker nivået raskt. Detter er spesielt viktig hvis du skal prestere flere ganger i løpet av en dag/helg som i en turnering. Da burde idrettsutdøverne spise en liten snack mat med høy GI rett etter kamp og hver andre time til neste kamp. Eksempel på mat:

Glykemisk Belastning GB

Når man spiser karbohydrater kan man ikke bare tenke på GI fordi f.eks vannmelon som har en høy GI har veldig lite karbohydrater per kvadratmeter (hvis jeg kan si det den veien). GB tar hensyn til karbohydrater i gram i maten og GI samt hvor mye du spiser. For å regne ut GB må du vite GI verdien av maten og hvor mange gram karbohydrater det er i porsjonen du spiser. F.eks. Et eple som inneholder 15 gram karbohydrater og har en GI på 40 regnesut slik 40 % × 15 g= 6 g GB. Et måltid med høy GB fremhever blod glukose, som igjen fremhever insulin etterspørselen og dermed produksjon av insulin.

Det er gode grunner til å ha et kosthold basert på lav GB mat. Jo høyere GB kosthold jo høyere er risikoen for hjerte-karsykdommer. Risikoen er samtidig høyere om du har en BMI (Body Mass Index) på mer enn 23.

BMI = vekt (kg)/(høyde (m))2. Eks: BMI = 55/(1,60 ×1,60) = 21,5

Bare husk det er mange andre faktorer som spiller inn som midjemål/hoftemål, trening (muskelmasse veier mer enn fett) etc.

NB: etter et målid med høy GB reagerer kroppen med å sende ut stress hormoner slik at glukose og FFAs fortsetter å bli frigjort i blodet og apetitten øker. Dermed spiser du mer. Noen tips for å minske GB verdien i mat:

  • Velg mat med lav GB
  • Bytt ut noen karbohydrater med proteiner. Som skrevet tidliger, proteiner gir deg en mer metthetsfølelse. F.eks; 25 % proteiner, 45 % karbohydrater og 30 % fett.
  • Eller bytt ut noe av karbohydratene med umettet fett. F.eks; reduser karbohydrater til 40 % og øk fettinntaket til 35 %.

I made up my mind and I'm not going to Sydney this weekend. I'm still in bed 24/7 so would be pretty boring going to Sydney the way I feel right now. Can't go to Sydney to stay in bed! This is really frustrating couse I miss the people there.

Bad timing...(norwegian)


Hva kan man si, jeg ligger nedsyltet i forkjølelse/influensa. Hodet sprenges snart, jeg er slapp, halsen sår, nesen tett, rennende øyne, feber (?), kroppen er rett og slett vond. Ja, jeg syntes litt synd på meg selv akkurat nå. Det kjipeste er at imorgen skal jeg til Sydney for å catche up me ”gamle” kjente. Det ser desverre mørkt ut. Alt kan jo forandre seg over natten, så jeg krysser fingrer og tær og håper jeg sitter på det flyet klokken fem imorgen ettermiddag. Er jeg ikke bedre imorgen skal jeg ta turen innom legen (igjen). Jeg må jo ihvertfall bli bra til mandag siden jeg har eksamen da. Kyssesyken har forresten sirkulert litt rundt her i det siste sammen med et tilbakefall av svineinfluensaen. Heldigvis tok jeg vaksinen i julen.

Jeg prøver å gjøre det beste ut av dette. Jeg har campet i sengen med en stor boks snytepapir, te med honning, Paradise Hotel og litt lesing av notater (jeg prøver ihvertfall).

Den siste uken har jeg ikke gjort så altfor mye siden formen ikke har vært på topp. Jeg var på kino og så ”Date night” her om dagen. Sykt artig film, forresten. Jeg hadde ingen forhåpninger og trodde egentlig det skulle være en annen av de filmene du forutser hele handlingen fem minutter inn. God underholdning!

Back to the real world

Guess what!? I'm taking a baby step into the real world again and becoming responsible for my expensive lifestyle. I have applied for jobs! I was a bit worried at first because I've never sent in an proper application before or ever been to a job interview. Ok, Ill worry about the interview a bit later, but the application part was so easy. It's all online! Me like very much. Some of the applications included a fair bit of wierd questions though such as "what is your greates achievment to date" and "tell us something you have learnt including the steps how you learnt it". Imagine how many different stories they get. Maybe thats why those questions are included, so the process get more interesting. Who knows...
Anyway, I hope I get a job couse that mean I can stay here over the summer. Cross your fingers guys!


Nothing will be the same as Cubus though...

Percel from NORWAY finally arrived

My dearest mum and my favourite aunt made my day yesterday. I recieved a BIG percel from Norway including "eventyrsjokolade", "paaskeskum", "kvikklunsj", "kvikklunsj-plate", easter egg (all lollies), basic tank and long sleeve from Cubus, Norwegian Elle magazine, two EOS (lipbalm) and the cutest framed photo of my sister. I love you two! I started feeling sick after a while, but SO worth it. But I'm definitely sharing the rest of it with friends.




So since I ended the day yesterday really unhealthy, I decided to start today VERY healthy. I boiled some water for my coffee (instant coffee has a good % of fibre!) which I need to wake up these days. But my real breakkie:

Peeled one kiwi fruit and cut it into smaller pieces.
Cut 4-5 small strawberries into smaller pieces (grandpa Malvin style).
3 table spoons of Greek style yoghurt
Ca. 30 g of cashew nuts
sprinkle with oats (havregryn)
honey

After putting this through my FoodWorks analyser:

Protein: 9.7 g (12.45 %)
Fat: 14.8 g (41.5 %)
Saturated fat: 3 g (8.5 %)
Carbohydrates: 31.7 g (40 %)
Water: 124.4 g
Fibre: 7.8 g (4.7 %)

Which overall isn't too bad, and a really tasty breakfast. I've, by the way, decided I like to cook. So from now on I am going to cook more. After all, how hard can it be?!

Since I'm at it I'll just start with the tip of the day:

Eat one handful of unsalted nuts a day. This will rise your fibre intake, give you some essential vitamins and minerals (which are not stored or synthesized in the body), proteins and oils. This may reduce the risk for heart diseases.
Sprinkle them on your cereal, in yoghurt or on to salads.
